RGC tin output rises

SYDNEY (Reuter): RGC Ltd said tin production in the March
quarter was higher at operations in Tasmania and Indonesia while
base metals output from the Thalanga project in North Queensland
was mixed in the third quarter.

Tin metal contained in saleable concentrates from the wholly-
owned Renison operation in Tasmania rose to 1,882 tons in the
quarter from 1,591 a year ago and rose in the latest nine months
to 6,082 tons from 5,220 tons.

The 75-percent owned PT Koba operations in Indonesia achieved
a rise in tin metal contained in saleable concentrates to 2,309
tons in the quarter from 1,902 tons a year ago.

RGC said increased output from Indonesia reflected the second
quarter commissioning of the Bemban dredge.

The Thalanga project achieved mixed production results in the
third quarter, with higher copper output and lower zinc and lead
production. RGC also said its wholly-owned mineral sands mines
and processing plants operated at full capacity in the latest
quarter to meet market demand.
