Rezon's leads ASEAN chess event

JAKARTA: Rezon Yanuar of Indonesia shared the lead with
Vietnamese Huynh Vinh Thang on three points in the Under-8
category of the 3rd ASEAN Age-Group Chess Championship in
Singapore on Monday.

Rezon was the only one of the 16-strong Indonesian players who
managed to win all three of his matches.

In the U-10 category, Reza Azhary stayed in third place on 2.5
points after winning twice and drawing once, while Taufik Halay,
who plays in the U-16 category, won twice and lost once to stay
in fourth place.

In the girls' division, Amalia Andra (U-14) and Irene Kharisma
(U-12) have each collected two points in their respective
classes. The event, which will run until June 14, features junior
chess players from seven countries in the region. -- JP
