Reynaldo Bryan, candidate for the Chairperson of the Central Board of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (BPP HIPMI) for the 2026-2029 term, has devised strategies to elevate regional entrepreneurs to help achieve the national economic growth target of 8%. Reynaldo revealed his strategies during a public lecture titled ‘Dare to Be an Entrepreneur: Building Businesses Amid Global Economic Challenges’ at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Yogyakarta on Monday, May 25. Reynaldo stated that achieving an 8% economic growth rate can only be accomplished by increasing the number of young entrepreneurs, both new and established, to scale up their businesses. ‘The only way to achieve 8% economic growth is to increase the number of young entrepreneurs, whether new or existing, to elevate their businesses,’ he said. ‘Young entrepreneurs in the regions possess many creative business ideas but often face challenges in accessing capital and markets. Therefore, HIPMI must provide tangible solutions to help regional businesses grow,’ he added. Reynaldo explained that his strategies include short-term and long-term programmes. In the short term, HIPMI will connect regional entrepreneurs with investors or large capital owners to foster business collaborations. ‘For the short term, we will collaborate with those who have substantial capital to invest or partner with regional entrepreneurs,’ he explained. For the long term, Reynaldo aims to expand financing access through government synergy. ‘In the future, we will approach the government for financing access,’ he added. Additionally, Reynaldo plans to create a map of regional flagship businesses if elected as BPP HIPMI Chairperson. He said this mapping is crucial to direct investors, market access, and capital towards the right targets. ‘My first special programme will be to create a map of regional flagship businesses. Once the map is complete, we will automatically seek investors to provide capital access in the regions and also market access,’ he said. During the event, Reynaldo also stressed that HIPMI must become more inclusive, with its impact felt in the regions, not just concentrated in Jakarta. ‘HIPMI must be felt beyond Jakarta, as it needs to be more inclusive and not exclusive,’ he stressed. Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the DIY Regional Board of HIPMI, Ekawati Rahayu Putri, praised Reynaldo as a successful regional young entrepreneur who has climbed to the national level. The woman, known as Echa, said young people should be encouraged to become entrepreneurs rather than solely aiming for civil service positions. ‘Bung Reynaldo is an example of someone from the regions who succeeded in the capital. He started as General Treasurer and is now running for Chairperson of BPP HIPMI,’ she said. Reynaldo also noted that the current exchange rate of the rupiah bears similarities to the conditions in 1998. Reynaldo Bryan stressed that competition within HIPMI should be conducted in a friendly manner while maintaining camaraderie.
