Revocation of KJP-KJMU as Strict Sanction to Discipline Jakarta Students
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is taking firm steps to reduce violence among students. The revocation of educational assistance, specifically the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) and the Jakarta Superior Student Card (KJMU), is now a primary instrument to discipline recipients proven to be involved in bullying or brawls.
Chico Hakim, Special Staff for Public Communication to the Governor and Deputy Governor of Jakarta, stated that this policy is part of an effort to create a deterrent effect. According to government data, approximately 60 cases of severe brawling have been recorded since 2025.
“The revocation of KJP for severe offenders is part of the disciplinary effort, balanced with access to alternative education,” Chico said in Jakarta on Friday (12/6).
One trigger for strengthening this sanction was a student stabbing incident in West Jakarta, which has now entered the legal domain. The Jakarta Provincial Government affirmed its support for law enforcement officers to ensure the perpetrators are processed according to applicable regulations.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo also highlighted a bullying case that occurred in the Senen area, Central Jakarta. Using available CCTV footage, Pramono has ordered the Education Agency and the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) to conduct a thorough investigation and take firm action against the perpetrators.
“Whoever commits bullying in Jakarta, we will take the strictest action. If the perpetrator is a student holding a KJP or KJMU, we will revoke their assistance,” Pramono asserted.
Pramono added that the Jakarta Provincial Government has zero tolerance for spaces used as venues for bullying. In addition to administrative sanctions in the form of revoking social education assistance, the provincial government also ensures that the legal process proceeds against perpetrators of violence to guarantee the safety of the educational environment in Jakarta.
