Revive the economy
Revive the economy
We have to praise those members of the House of
Representatives (DPR) who were elected to office during the 1999
general election. Compared to those in the New Order era, these
legislators are more outspoken.
However, some DPR members seem only able to criticize without
offering any solutions. It seems that it is about time that
members of the DPR should be backed by teams or experts to help
them come up with more constructive criticism.
What is even more important is that they should have a common
vision in restoring Indonesia's ailing economy. The Indonesian
Chamber of Commerce and Industry has estimated that about two
million people will be laid off next year. Couldn't the DPR,
along with the government, find some solutions to raise this
nation out of the prolonged crisis?
