Revitalisation of Termite-Damaged SDN Tanggirejo in Grobogan Commences

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The head of SDN Tanggirejo in Grobogan Regency, Central Java, Juwariyah, has confirmed that the school’s revitalisation project commenced on Saturday. “Alhamdulillah, work has started today,” she said when contacted by ANTARA on Saturday. Juwariyah explained that the construction began following a direct inspection of the school by the Presidential Palace. She noted that the Grobogan Regency Education Office had previously sought repairs through a revitalisation programme. “The Education Office had actually been looking for ways to fix it through revitalisation, but after the direct review by the Presidential Palace, the work started today,” she said. She explained that the revitalisation process would comprehensively address all damaged parts of the building. “Insya Allah, everything will be covered,” she stated. Juwariyah added that teaching and learning activities are continuing despite the ongoing construction. The school has implemented a rotating class system for some students, partitioned certain classrooms, and is using the prayer room as a temporary learning space. She further noted that the damage first appeared in the Grade VI classroom in January 2026, followed by the teachers’ office in April 2026, attributing the destruction to a termite infestation. Juwariyah expressed her gratitude to President Prabowo Subianto for initiating the revitalisation. “I would like to thank the President and his staff for spearheading this revitalisation,” she said. The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education had previously moved quickly to respond to reports regarding the severely damaged condition of SDN Tanggirejo. A ministry official, Gogot, stated that coordination was ongoing with the school principal, the local education office, and the Central Java Education Quality Assurance Centre to expedite the repairs, with a cooperation agreement signing planned in the near future. He emphasised that the School Revitalisation Programme is a ministry priority to achieve quality education for all and reaffirmed the commitment to improving educational facilities so that students can learn in a safe, comfortable, and proper environment.
