Revitalisation of Sinuian State Elementary School in Minahasa Boosts Local Economy
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) states that the revitalisation programme for educational units at Sinuian State Elementary School in Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province, not only provides decent learning spaces but also boosts the local economy.
Basic and Secondary Education Minister Abdul Mu’ti said the poor physical condition of the school building demonstrates the urgent need for repairs, as only one of the six existing classrooms is deemed suitable for teaching and learning activities.
“This school is in a very unfit condition for teaching and learning activities. Therefore, we will rebuild it this year,” Mu’ti said in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
He mentioned that the revitalisation is being carried out comprehensively with a total budget of Rp2.131 billion.
This budget, he continued, covers costs for rehabilitating six classrooms, an administration room, library, construction of toilets, and landscaping of the school environment.
Furthermore, Mu’ti explained that the programme not only impacts students but also stimulates the local economy.
The implementation of the revitalisation programme, which uses a self-managed system, absorbs labour from the surrounding community.
In addition, he added that building materials are prioritised for purchase from shops around the school, thereby boosting local economic circulation.
Nationally, Mu’ti said the revitalisation of Sinuian State Elementary School is part of a broader agenda for equalising education quality.
For North Sulawesi Province, he mentioned that 255 schools are included in the 2026 revitalisation programme, specifically for underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions covering Sitaro (21 schools), Sangihe (4 schools), and Talaud (24 schools).
