Revitalisation of Cooperative Monument: LPDB Strengthens Cooperative Financing Access
The revitalisation of the Cooperative Monument has become a momentum to re-strengthen the spirit of the national cooperative movement. Alongside efforts to preserve the historical value of cooperatives, the Revolving Fund Management Institution for Cooperatives (LPDB Koperasi) continues to encourage the strengthening of the cooperative ecosystem through the expansion of financing access for cooperatives in various regions.
As part of the 79th National Cooperative Day (Harkopnas) commemoration, Minister of Cooperatives of the Republic of Indonesia Ferry Juliantono, together with Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Fadli Zon, inaugurated the revitalisation of the Cooperative Monument and the designation of the historic area as a National Cultural Heritage at the Cooperative Monument Building in Tasikmalaya.
The Cooperative Monument is the historic site of the first Indonesian Cooperative Congress held on 12 July 1947. The event became an important milestone in the birth of the Indonesian cooperative movement, embodying a people’s economy spirit based on mutual cooperation.
Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono emphasised that the revitalisation of the Cooperative Monument is not merely the preservation of a historic building, but also an effort to revive the values of the cooperative struggle as a people’s economic force.
According to him, the area is expected to become a centre for education as well as a reminder that cooperatives have a strategic role in driving national economic growth through collaboration between the government, the business world, state-owned enterprises, and the community.
Meanwhile, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon stated that the designation of the Cooperative Monument as a National Cultural Heritage is a form of respect for the nation’s history.
He assessed that the 1947 Cooperative Congress in Tasikmalaya is an important part of Indonesia’s journey in building a people’s economy rooted in the culture of mutual cooperation. The revitalisation of the area is expected to strengthen historical literacy while inspiring the younger generation.
Also present to accompany the activity were President Director of LPDB Koperasi Krisdianto, Director of General Affairs and Legal of LPDB Koperasi Deva Rachman, and Director of Sharia Financing of LPDB Koperasi Ari Permana.
Mayor of Tasikmalaya Viman Alfarizi Ramadhan said that the revitalisation of the Cooperative Monument will further strengthen Tasikmalaya City as the historic city where the Indonesian cooperative movement was born.
According to him, the area will be developed into a historical education space, a tourist destination, as well as a city icon capable of encouraging the strengthening of the community’s economy through cooperative development.
On the occasion, LPDB Koperasi also participated by presenting a Consultation Booth for a Coaching Clinic on Revolving Fund Loans/Financing in the Cooperative Monument area.
This service provides an opportunity for cooperatives to consult directly regarding the mechanisms, requirements, and revolving fund financing schemes that can be utilised to strengthen institutions and increase the business capacity of cooperatives.
The LPDB Koperasi consultation booth received high enthusiasm from the cooperative administrators who attended. Through this service, LPDB Koperasi seeks to expand access to financing information while accelerating the emergence of healthy, productive cooperatives capable of becoming drivers of the regional economy.
President Director of LPDB Koperasi Krisdianto said that the revitalisation of the Cooperative Monument must become a momentum not only to remember history, but also to strengthen the future of cooperatives through broader financing access.
“The spirit born from the 1947 Cooperative Congress must continue to be translated into concrete action. LPDB Koperasi is present to ensure that cooperatives not only understand their history, but also have access to the financing needed so that they can grow, be competitive, and provide real benefits to their members. Through this coaching clinic, we want more cooperatives to move up a class and become capable of being the driving force of the people’s economy in various regions,” he said in a written statement on Monday (24/8/2026).
According to him, the presence of LPDB Koperasi amid the momentum of the Cooperative Monument revitalisation is a symbol of continuity between the values of the cooperative struggle and efforts to strengthen the cooperative financing ecosystem in the modern era.
The revitalisation of the Cooperative Monument and its designation as a National Cultural Heritage is expected not only to preserve the nation’s historical heritage, but also to become the starting point for the birth of a new spirit to strengthen cooperatives as the pillar of the national economy.
In line with this, LPDB Koperasi is committed to continuing to expand access to loans and revolving fund financing so that more cooperatives are able to grow, develop, and make a real contribution to improving the welfare of the Indonesian people.
