Reviewing Victims at Bekasi City Hospital, Rosan Roeslani Affirms KAI's Full Responsibility

Investment Minister and Head of BKPM, Rosan Roeslani, directly inspected the condition of the victims of the train accident at Bekasi City Hospital on Tuesday (28/4). During his visit, Rosan emphasised that the government, through PT KAI, will assume full responsibility for all costs related to the victims’ treatment. Based on data provided by Rosan, the number of fatalities from the incident was recorded at 15 people. Meanwhile, of the 88 victims taken to hospital, 28 have been declared recovered and allowed to go home. “The government, in this case KAI, will take full responsibility for both current costs, health costs, and any other costs arising from this accident,” said Rosan at Bekasi City Hospital on Tuesday (28/4). Following this tragedy, Rosan assured that the government will not remain idle. He stated that a thorough evaluation and assessment of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) operations will be conducted soon, involving various ministries and related agencies. The main focus of this major audit is to ensure passenger safety standards. “We will evaluate comprehensively and also conduct an assessment of Kereta Api Indonesia to ensure that safety becomes the utmost priority in the operation of train transportation in Indonesia,” he stressed. In response to President Prabowo Subianto’s instructions regarding the construction of flyover bridges at high-risk crossing points, Rosan assured that the project will be a priority and executed immediately. This step is taken as a long-term solution to prevent similar accidents in the future. “As stated by the President, this will be implemented as soon as possible. This is a quick step to ensure that incidents like this do not happen again,” Rosan revealed.
