Reviewing NTT Earthquake Victims with National Police Chief, Titiek Oversees Logistics and Facility Fulfilment

House Commission IV Chair Siti Hediati Hariyadi (Titiek Soeharto) and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo visited residents affected by the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). She said she wanted to ensure residents’ needs were being met.

“Our presence here is also to find out directly what the community still needs. Because this disaster has only just occurred, the process of meeting needs is of course still ongoing,” Titiek said on Tuesday (18/8/2026).

She expressed deep condolences over the magnitude 7.7 earthquake that struck on Saturday morning (15/8). Titiek said she would continue to coordinate with relevant parties to ensure the needs of affected residents are fulfilled.

“Earlier we saw that there are still several needs that must be completed immediately, such as sanitation facilities, temporary housing, evacuation equipment and other basic needs. We will continue to coordinate these matters so they can be met promptly,” she said.

Titiek expressed appreciation to the joint personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces and National Police, the National Disaster Management Agency, the National Search and Rescue Agency, central and regional governments, and volunteers who responded swiftly together to help victims. She expressed hope that the community’s condition would recover soon.

“We also hope that the various damages experienced by the community, including residents’ homes and affected public facilities, can be handled and repaired promptly by the Government so that people can return to their normal lives,” she said.

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo conveyed a similar message. He said the National Police had distributed 247.66 tonnes of aid for earthquake victims in NTT.

The National Police Chief and Titiek reviewed evacuation sites in Manggarai Regency and East Manggarai Regency, the two locations with the highest numbers of displaced people. The largest number of displaced residents was in Manggarai Regency with 13,935 evacuees, and East Manggarai Regency with 7,457 evacuees.

In total, 27,700 evacuees were reported spread across 107 evacuation points. He said almost all evacuation sites had been reached.

“Currently most evacuation sites can be reached. Together with all relevant elements, we continue to share tasks to visit evacuation points, see firsthand the condition of the community, and ensure their needs can be met,” the National Police Chief said.

Logistical and humanitarian aid totalling 247.66 tonnes consisted of 19.59 tonnes from National Police Headquarters and 228.07 tonnes from five regional police forces. The aid included food and beverages, medicine, clothing, blankets, generators, tarpaulins, vehicles, water treatment equipment, water tanks, and internet signal devices.

“Specifically today, the National Police distributed aid to communities in Manggarai Regency and East Manggarai Regency in the form of 3,500 social assistance packages, 500 children’s toys, 39 mattresses, 10 water tanks, and 36 boxes of medicines transported using 6 trucks,” he said.

The National Police also deployed the patrol vessel KP Bima 7014 class A3, two AW 169 helicopters and one Bell-429 helicopter, as well as one CN aircraft, Casa, and Beechjet to support services and handling of earthquake-affected communities.

“The National Police will remain committed to standing with the community during these difficult times, and to synergising with the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the National Disaster Management Agency, regional governments, and all relevant stakeholders to accelerate disaster response, recovery of affected areas, and ensure public safety and security,” he said.
