PT PLN (Persero) has stated that the condition of the electricity system in Jakarta and its surroundings is safe. This was emphasised by PLN’s CEO, Darmawan Prasodjo, during a working visit to the Jakarta and Banten Load Dispatching and Control Unit (UP2B) in Cawang and the Tanjung Priok Combined Cycle Power Plant (PLTGU), on Thursday (23/4).

This step was taken to review operational readiness and the sufficiency of primary energy supply amid increasing electricity demand from the public. In addition, Darmawan affirmed that to date, all electricity parameters indicate stable conditions, both in terms of the electricity system and primary energy supply.

“We directly reviewed the electricity system in the field. From the monitoring results, both in terms of operational system and primary energy supply, everything is in a sufficient position and ready to support the public’s electricity needs,” said Darmawan in a written statement, quoted on Saturday (25/4/2026).

He stated that 76 substations supplying electricity to the Jakarta and surrounding areas are operating optimally, thus able to maintain the continuity of electricity supply for the government centre, business, and public activities.

He emphasised that PLN continues to conduct real-time monitoring of the electricity system conditions through load dispatching centres, including the UP2B Jakarta and Banten, which serves as one of the backbones of system control in the Jakarta and surrounding areas. Not stopping there, PLN is also strengthening the supply chain optimisation strategy through intensive coordination with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and primary energy suppliers. This step is taken to maintain the sustainability of power plant operations.

“We understand that electricity reliability is an important foundation for economic activities and public life. Therefore, we ensure not only that the system is reliable, but also that the energy supply is well maintained,” he explained.

Furthermore, PLN reaffirmed its commitment to continue providing reliable, sufficient, and sustainable electricity for all Indonesian people, and to ensure that the electricity system remains strong and stable in various conditions.
