Revenue from ID card processing

JAKARTA (JP): North Jakarta mayoralty will most likely lose about Rp 500 million in locally generated revenue per annum following a ban on the collection of 20 levies, an official said.

Djohan Anwar, head of the mayoralty's population office, said revenue from the collection of levies from the processing of citizenship documents alone, including family cards, resettling licenses, change of citizenship and expatriate registration, reached about Rp 976 million per annum.

"After the stoppage of the collections, however, the revenue from citizenship document processing is projected to reach only about half as much," Djohan was quoted by Antara as saying.

Based on Gubernatorial Decree No. 134/1998, he said, only collection of the levy from citizenship identity cards was allowed to continue.

"It will be the main contributor to our locally generated revenue," he said. (hhr)
