Police have disclosed the motive of woman T, a commissioner at an IT company, who attempted to murder her colleague, man MHA, at his home in the Menteng area of Central Jakarta. The perpetrator admitted to being upset after being called slow at work by the victim, who is also the President Director of the same company.

“The motive conveyed by the suspect so far is that she harboured resentment and a grudge against MHA because, in their association and collaboration from 2020 until now, the perpetrator was considered slow at work and he often said things that hurt her feelings,” said Central Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Roby Heri Saputra on Friday (19/6/2026).

Nevertheless, the police are not immediately accepting the suspect’s excuse. Roby stated that investigators will conduct further inquiries and examine several other witnesses.

The perpetrator has now been named a suspect and detained. She is charged under Article 466 concerning assault and Article 459 in conjunction with Article 17 paragraph 1 concerning attempted premeditated murder.

“For premeditated murder, the penalty is 20 years or life imprisonment, but for attempted murder it is two-thirds. So two-thirds of 20 years. For aggravated assault under Article 466, it is 5 years. Under Article 467, aggravated assault carries 8 years,” he explained.

Faked Robbery

Police uncovered the facts behind the assault on man MHA on Jalan Pati, Menteng, Central Jakarta. It turned out the robbery of 500 grams of gold was merely a fabrication by the perpetrator to cover up the attempted murder.

Initially, woman T, who had been a witness, reported that the victim had been robbed. T even claimed to have lost 500 grams of gold.

Based on the police investigation, it was discovered that T was the perpetrator of the assault against MHA. No items were stolen, including the 500 grams of gold.

“There were no stolen items,” said Central Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Roby Heri Saputra on Friday (19/6).

Roby explained T’s reason for filing the false robbery report. The perpetrator did it to deceive the police about the assault she had committed.

“So, the person alleged to have stolen, along with the stolen goods and the theft incident itself, we suspect are fake. It was merely an alibi to obscure the actual event,” he revealed.
