Revealed: US Requested Ceasefire from Day 10 of War, Iran Complies a Month Later
Tehran – Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) on Saturday (17/4/2026) issued a statement regarding the ceasefire and negotiations with the United States (US). The SNSC revealed that the US had already requested a ceasefire from the tenth day of the war.
“The US began seeking a path to a ceasefire from the tenth day of the war after failing on the battlefield, and Iran only agreed to negotiate on the fortieth day after Trump formally accepted the 10-point plan as a negotiation framework,” the SNSC statement was quoted as saying by Drop Site.
However, according to the SNSC, during the 21-hour negotiations in Islamabad, Pakistan, Washington ignored that framework and proposed new excessive demands, which were firmly rejected by the Iranian delegation. The negotiations in Islamabad thus ended without any agreement.
Now, the SNSC confirms that the Commander of the Pakistani Armed Forces has sent a new proposal from the US to Tehran. That proposal is still under discussion, and Iran has not yet given a response, including approving a new negotiation schedule.
The SNSC calls on the Iranian people to maintain national unity “in order to consolidate the achievements on the battlefield into the diplomatic arena”.
