Revealed: Trump Threatened Netanyahu Through His Wife
Israel cancelled a planned follow-up attack on Lebanon after United States President Donald Trump threatened Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The threat was reportedly conveyed through Netanyahu’s wife, Sara. Middle East Monitor reported on Friday that an Israeli businessman, Roni Mani, claimed to have received the information from someone he described as a senior White House source. According to Mani, the senior White House source revealed contact that occurred between Trump and Sara Netanyahu. Mani claimed that Trump contacted Sara Netanyahu and urged the prime minister’s wife to persuade her husband to cancel the planned military action in the southern suburbs of Beirut, the Lebanese capital. ‘My exclusive information, through my source in the White House, confirms that Trump contacted Sara Netanyahu and demanded that she rein in Netanyahu or he would imprison him, expel Yair from the United States, and freeze their assets there,’ Mani claimed, referring to Netanyahu’s son, Yair, who is known to have been living in Florida, US, since 2023. Mani further claimed that Trump offered the Netanyahu family political asylum in the US if the prime minister loses the upcoming election. According to Mani, Sara Netanyahu subsequently confronted her husband about the issue, after which Netanyahu contacted Trump and agreed to cancel the planned attack. These claims have not been independently confirmed. There has also been no immediate comment from the White House, the Netanyahu family, or Israeli government officials regarding Mani’s statements. The report emerged amid growing accounts of tension between Trump and Netanyahu over Israel’s military operations in Lebanon. A previous report by US media outlet Axios, citing several senior White House officials, stated that Trump and Netanyahu clashed during a phone call on the Monday local time.
