Revealed! The Stepbrother Was the Killer of the Primary School Child in Cipatat
The murder of a primary school pupil identified as AS (12) in Cipatat Village, West Bandung Regency, has been revealed. The victim, who died from stabbing injuries, was actually killed by his stepbrother.
AS’s body was first found by his mother on Tuesday afternoon (3 March 2026). He died from wounds inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon to the neck and several stab wounds to his back.
Cimahi Police Chief AKBP Niko N Adi Putra said the suspect who ended the life of the unfortunate child had been arrested within hours of the victim being found lifeless.
“Within less than 1x24 hours, members of the Cimahi Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit and Cipatat Police Station had managed to secure the suspect, his stepbrother,” Niko said during an interview on Wednesday (4 March 2026).
Niko said the suspect briefly fled to Cianjur Regency, which is not very far from the victim’s residence. He had also taken the victim’s mobile phone.
“Secured in Cianjur, the suspect was found carrying the victim’s phone which is also evidence,” Niko said.
He said the suspect is currently undergoing in-depth questioning. The authorities are also continuing to probe the motive behind the step-brother’s killing of his younger step-sibling.
“The motive is still being explored; it is still in-depth questioning by investigators from the Cimahi Criminal Investigation Unit. Further developments will be announced,” Niko said.
