Revealed! The reason behind Hafiz Mahendra’s erratic behaviour with a Toyota Calya in the Gunung Sahari area, Central Jakarta, has been revealed. It turns out that he was driving against traffic and causing an accident because a number of sharp weapons and four pairs of different vehicle registration plates (TNKB) or fake plates were found in the car.

Police also found a toy gun in the car. The discovery began when the Directorate of Traffic of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police took action against Hafiz’s reckless act of driving his car at high speed and with mismatched license plates.

“It was found that there were four sets of TNKB, four different pairs of TNKB. Then, a toy gun and two sharp weapons, namely a machete and a dagger, were also found. That’s what we found,” said the Director of Traffic of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Police Commissioner Komarudin, Thursday, February 26, 2026.

The discovery means that the case is no longer limited to a traffic violation. Now, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Central Jakarta Police is involved to investigate the possibility of other criminal elements.

“This is what we are still investigating at this time, the person concerned is still being intensively questioned. The questioning that has been carried out by the traffic investigators, is now being continued by investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Central Jakarta Police,” he said.

For information, the reckless act of a Toyota Calya car with license plate D 1640 AHB in the Jalan Gunung Sahari area, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, went viral on social media. The car was driving against traffic, causing a commotion and eventually being attacked by a mob.

The video of the incident was uploaded to the Instagram account @amq_mnl. In the recording, the black Calya car was seen being stopped by officers, even with warning shots. However, the driver refused and continued to drive in the opposite direction.

The situation became even more heated when the vehicle also hit several motorcycles and cars at the location. Residents and other drivers who were angry immediately tried to stop the car. The car, which finally stopped, was then attacked.

The rear window and front body were damaged due to being hit by objects thrown by angry residents. The Chief of the Central Jakarta Police, Police Commissioner Reynold E.P. Hutagalung, confirmed that they had secured the driver, named Hafiz Mahendra (25), a resident of Sidoarjo, East Java.
