Revealed: The Debut Product to Be Introduced by Apple's New CEO
Apple has announced John Ternus as the successor to Tim Cook, effective from September 2026. Following this announcement, leaks have revealed the first product to be released under Ternus’s leadership.
According to a report by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Ternus will make his debut as CEO by launching a foldable iPhone.
This move is seen as an effort by Apple to position Ternus as the “new face” of the company, as well as a symbol of a new product category expected to captivate the public.
This narrative is reportedly set to be highlighted again to strengthen his image as a key figure behind Apple’s innovations.
The foldable iPhone is reported to be priced starting at $2,000 (approximately Rp34.4 million). If accurate, this would make it the most expensive iPhone in history, as previous models have been priced below this amount.
Although it sounds expensive, the concept of a foldable phone is not new in the industry. Samsung has already released foldable phones seven years ago at similar prices.
The foldable iPhone is said to feature a simple concept. When folded, the phone will look like a regular iPhone, but when opened, it will resemble an iPad mini.
This approach is considered easier for consumers to understand compared to other experimental products, according to Gizmodo.
The foldable iPhone is said to have a main screen of around 7.8 inches when opened and an outer screen of 5.5 inches when folded.
Apple is also reportedly developing a hinge mechanism and display panel that minimises the crease in the middle of the screen, making it almost invisible.
Several analysts predict that the iPhone Fold will be introduced in 2026, possibly alongside the next generation iPhone series.
Although late to the game, many analysts believe the iPhone Fold has the potential to attract a large market due to Apple’s highly loyal iPhone user base worldwide.
Despite the various rumours, Apple has yet to comment on details of the foldable phone. The specifics will be revealed when the tech giant officially launches it. We shall wait and see.
