Revealed: Plan to Splash Acid on Andrie Yunus Plotted in TNI BAIS Mess
JAKARTA — The Military Prosecutor has uncovered that the acid splashing incident against Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), is alleged to have originated from planning at the mess of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS TNI). This fact emerged during the trial at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Wednesday (29/4/2026).
In the proceedings, Military Prosecutor Lieutenant Colonel Chk Muhammad Iswadi outlined that four BAIS TNI members are suspected of involvement in the incident: Sergeant Edi Sudarko, First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetia, and First Lieutenant Sami Lakka.
According to Iswadi, on 12 March 2026 around 4:30 p.m. WIB, the defendants Edi and Budhi headed to the Denma BAIS TNI vehicle workshop. At the location, Budhi retrieved used battery acid and mixed it with rust remover fluid.
Afterwards, the defendants planned the splashing against Andrie. Iswadi stated that initially Edi suggested a beating, but Budhi proposed using chemical fluid.
“Edi said he wanted to beat Brother Andrie Yunus as a lesson and deterrent effect, but Budhi said, ‘don’t beat him but just splash him with rust remover fluid’,” he explained.
The defendants then agreed to the proposal. Around 5:00 p.m. WIB, they searched for Andrie using two motorcycles and departed from the Denma BAIS TNI mess via the back gate.
“Upon arriving at Monas, the defendants did not find Andrie Yunus’s whereabouts, then the Defendants continued searching for Andrie Yunus to other places and upon arriving at Tugu Tani, Defendants Edi and Budhi separated from Nandala Dwi Prasetia and Sami Lakka,” he revealed.
Nandala and Sami then headed to the YLBHI office, while Edi and Budhi went towards the Kwitang area. However, while at the Atrium Senen traffic light, Edi and Budhi turned around to monitor the area around the KontraS office.
The monitoring efforts initially yielded no results until the defendants were about to return. However, Nandala saw the victim exiting the YLBHI office.
“Andrie Yunus was riding a yellow motorcycle out of the YLBHI office and said, ‘that’s Andrie Yunus, he’s coming out on a yellow motorcycle’,” he explained.
The defendants then tailed the victim towards the Salemba direction. Before the intersection of Jalan Salemba and Jalan Talang, Edi and Budhi overtook the victim, while Nandala and Sami remained behind.
“Budhi slowed down while waiting for Andrie Yunus’s motorcycle to approach, and when they passed each other, Edi immediately splashed the chemical fluid onto Andrie Yunus’s body, which also hit Edi,” he said.
In the indictment, the military prosecutor stated that the defendants are alleged to have been motivated by feeling offended by Andrie’s activities. The incident in question relates to activities conducted by Andrie at the Fairmont Jakarta Hotel on 16 March 2025.
“The defendants considered Brother Andrie Yunus to have insulted the TNI institution and even trampled on the TNI institution,” said Military Prosecutor Lieutenant Colonel Corps of Law (Chk) TNI Muhammad Iswadi during the trial at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Wednesday.
