Revealed Motive of Convoy of Cars Zig-zagging on the Becakayu Toll Road Turns Out to Be Just for Fun

  • ANTARA

Jakarta, VIVA – Police have met motorists who conducted a zig-zag convoy on the Becakayu Toll Road. There were six drivers, their initials were N, I, H, H, K, and A.

The Head of the Vehicle Convoy and Violent Driving Division of Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Reiki Indra Brata Manggala, said they had issued verbal warnings and the drivers had apologised for their actions.

‘For the drivers who performed the zig-zag we have met them and issued verbal warnings, and the person involved has also issued a statement of apology because they drove in a reckless manner,’ Reiki told reporters on Saturday, 7 March 2026.

Reiki said the drivers held driving licences for cars. He added that the reckless actions were carried out only out of boredom.

‘Data from their statements show they did this merely out of boredom and some of them work in buy-sell of second-hand cars,’ he said.

Earlier, according to ANTARA, an amateur video widely circulated on social media Instagram @jakarta_siders showed five cars travelling together in a convoy on the Becakayu Toll Road, on Wednesday night (4 March 2026).

The vehicles appeared to switch lanes zig-zagging from one lane to another. In the recording, the cars were seen moving from lane one to lane three in rotation.

The dangerous act gave the toll road the impression of being blocked by the convoy. Although traffic conditions on the toll road appeared relatively quiet, the zig-zag action was still considered dangerous.

Such driving behaviour could potentially cause accidents, especially if other vehicles were travelling at high speed.

The act also drew condemnation from the public who felt uneasy about the disorderly behaviour of road users on the toll road.

‘If driving like that, it is very dangerous for other drivers. There should be firm action to prevent it from happening again,’ said one resident, Indah (29) in East Jakarta, on Friday, 6 March 2026.
