Revealed: Mossad Did This to Kill Ayatollah Khamenei
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The weekend attack on Iran by the United States and Israel killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Yet new details have emerged from the assassination. A latest Financial Times (FT) report, published on Wednesday 4 March 2026, details how Israeli intelligence Mossad was involved alongside the US CIA. Mossad allegedly hacked nearly all of Tehran’s traffic cameras to aid the plan to kill Khamenei. ‘Cameras in the Iranian capital have been hacked for years, with footage encrypted and sent to Israel,’ the FT report states. One camera mounted on a street near the complex where Khamenei resides provided a vantage point that allowed analysts to track vehicles and the routines of security personnel. The data were said to be processed to build what spies call ‘patterns of life’ for officials and their guards. ‘Not only that, Israeli intelligence also tampered with components of mobile phone masts near the complex to block potential warning signals,’ FT notes. The assassination of Khamenei itself had apparently been planned for months by Israeli intelligence. But the operation was later adapted with the CIA. CIA data indicate that Khamenei and senior officials would meet at his Tehran complex on Saturday morning. The United States was reported to have a source in Tehran who provided confirmation. ‘Khamenei was having breakfast with senior aides when the attack occurred,’ US President Donald Trump told Fox News on Monday. ‘They thought they were safe because this happened in broad daylight,’ he added. Earlier, the US described the attack as ‘Operation Epic Fury.’ The US said it was undertaken as a necessary step to dismantle Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programme, although in testimony to Congress on Tuesday, the US Secretary of State acknowledged that Israel’s security was a primary factor. Tehran insists the attack was entirely unwarranted. The country even retaliated with missiles and drones targeting Israel and US bases across the Middle East. ‘For years, Israel has killed hundreds of people abroad, including militant leaders, nuclear scientists, chemical engineers — and many innocent civilians,’ FT adds again.
