Revealed: Many US Troops Oppose War Against Iran

Many American military personnel are opposing war against Iran. This has been revealed through data from a non-profit organisation, the Center on Conscience & War.

The executive director of the group stated there is strong opposition to war against Iran. Many of them are refusing to serve in the US-Israeli war against Iran.

“The phones keep ringing. Far more units have just been activated for deployment than the public knows about,” wrote executive director Mike Prysner on X, cited on Tuesday (10/3/2026).

The report came out following US plans to send special forces to Iran. There has been speculation about a broader mobilisation occurring.

However, it was also reported that a major US training exercise was cancelled for some troops from the US 82nd Airborne Division, which specialises in ground combat. There has been no further confirmation as to whether this is related to the report of military opposition to fighting in Iran.

“Yesterday I received a call from a military member who would be deployed, who not only volunteered as a conscientious objector but also reported widespread opposition to the Iran War within their unit and said they would share our number with everyone,” the organisation stated in another post on X.

“Specifically, they expressed revulsion at the massacre of schoolgirls by the US and the attack on an Iranian frigate in international waters,” the post added.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Fox News, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt declined to rule out the possibility of the US reinstating the military draft. The last time the US required men to fight was in December 1972, during the final months of the Vietnam War.

On another front, at least 165 people, mostly young girls, were killed in a joint US-Israeli strike on a girls’ school in Minab, southern Iran. Middle East Eye (MEE) reported that the school was hit twice, with the second missile killing survivors who had taken shelter and first responders, in what was described as a double strike.

The New York Times has added evidence that the US was responsible for the school bombing. A video released by Iran’s semi-official news agency, Mehr News Agency, showed a Tomahawk cruise missile striking a naval base adjacent to the school.

The Trump administration refused to comment when asked about the strike despite mounting evidence. On Saturday, Trump blamed Iran for the attack on the school, claiming they possessed “inaccurate” ammunition, without providing evidence.

Iran itself has launched retaliatory strikes against the US and Israel by bombing advanced radar stations, military bases, and even the CIA section of the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Critical energy infrastructure in Gulf countries has also been affected.
