US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, has revealed that Israel sent the Iron Dome air defence system to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during the war against Iran.

The information, as reported by AFP on Wednesday (13/5/2026), was disclosed by Huckabee during a speech at a conference at Tel Aviv University on Tuesday (12/5) local time. So far, there has been no official response from UAE authorities regarding Huckabee’s statement.

Huckabee stated that Iron Dome air defence batteries, along with the personnel operating them, were deployed to the UAE during the battles against Iran several months ago.

With Huckabee’s statement, the UAE becomes the first Middle Eastern country known to have allowed its territory to host Israel’s advanced Iron Dome air defence system.

“May I express my deep appreciation and admiration to the United Arab Emirates?” Huckabee said during the forum.

“They were the first members of the Abraham Accords, but look at the benefits they have reaped as a result. Israel has just sent Iron Dome batteries and personnel to help operate them. Why? Because there is an extraordinary relationship between the UAE and Israel based on the Abraham Accords,” he explained.

The Abraham Accords, or Abraham Agreement, is a deal signed by several Middle Eastern countries with Israel, mediated by the US, with the primary aim of normalising diplomatic relations with Tel Aviv.

The UAE was one of the first four Muslim-majority countries to sign the Abraham Accords during Trump’s first term in 2017-2021.

Huckabee’s statement comes after a recent report by leading US media outlet, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), revealed that the UAE has secretly launched a series of retaliatory attacks against Iran.

One of the UAE’s attack targets, according to anonymous sources cited by WSJ in its report on Monday (11/5), was an oil refinery on Lavan Island, Iran.

The WSJ report stated that the Iranian oil refinery was hit by UAE attacks in early April, or when Trump was about to announce a ceasefire with Tehran. The attack reportedly triggered a large fire and crippled the facility.

During the war raging between the US and Israel against Iran since late February, Gulf countries hosting Washington’s military assets, including the UAE, became targets of Tehran’s retaliatory strikes.

According to the WSJ report, Iran targeted the UAE with more attacks than other Gulf countries, even exceeding retaliatory strikes against Israel. Tehran has launched more than 2,800 missile and drone attacks against targets in the UAE since the war began in late February.

When the ceasefire was implemented from early April, the UAE reported several missile and drone attacks from Iranian territory. Tehran has denied launching attacks against its neighbour during the ceasefire.
