Saudi Arabia has reportedly urged the administration of US President Donald Trump to avoid any major military action against Iran until this year’s Hajj season concludes. The Kingdom of Salman requested Washington to refrain from escalation as Saudi authorities will host over 1.5 million pilgrims from around the world. The report was first published by CNN International and also by local outlet The New Arab. Saudi Arabia is a Gulf ally of the United States.

“The Hajj is expected to begin on 24 May and last for six days,” the outlet reported on Monday, 25 May 2026.

Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) also made similar requests, urging continued diplomatic efforts amid fears that Iran could retaliate against neighbouring Gulf states if the US proceeds with attacks.

“Gulf leaders have shown a united front in urging the Trump administration to exercise restraint, with the Hajj season being a key concern,” the source added.

Meanwhile, other media reports state that Trump was warned that military action during Hajj could trigger wider regional disruption. Officials fear new hostilities could strand large numbers of pilgrims across the Gulf region.

Gulf officials reportedly also warned that launching an attack during the sacred period ahead of Eid al-Adha could further damage Washington’s standing among Muslims worldwide. Previously, the US and Israel carried out strikes against Iran during the holy month of Ramadan.

“Analysts also warned that renewed conflict could disrupt major regional aviation hubs, including in Qatar and the UAE, as well as routes connecting South and East Asia, where many Hajj pilgrims begin their journeys,” the report added.

The US-Iran conflict began on 28 February. A ceasefire that took effect on 8 April halted hostilities for several weeks, but peace negotiations have yet to materialise.
