Revealed: Ferdy Sambo's Prison Activities While Serving Life Sentence
The name Ferdy Sambo is once again in the public eye after his son, Tribrata Putra, was reported to have completed his education and graduated from the Police Academy (Akpol) class of 2026. The graduation has led many to refocus on the life of the former senior National Police officer, who is now serving a life sentence.
Tribrata, familiarly known as Brata, is known to be following in his father’s career footsteps. Before becoming embroiled in the premeditated murder case of Brigadier Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat, also known as Brigadier J, Ferdy Sambo held a strategic position within the police institution. He was the former Head of the Professional and Security Affairs Division (Kadiv Propam) of the National Police, a post responsible for overseeing the discipline, ethics and conduct of all police members. He also held the rank of Inspector General (Irjen).
Although he is now behind bars, Ferdy Sambo’s life continues to attract attention. The public has been curious about what activities Sambo undertakes while serving his life sentence.
- Actively sending letters to his children
One of the things that has most often drawn attention is Sambo’s relationship with his family, which has been maintained through letters. Together with his wife, Putri Candrawathi, Ferdy Sambo is known to have sent letters containing prayers, support and messages to their children on various important occasions.
The letters caught the public’s attention when his eldest daughter, Trisha Eungelica, completed her medical education and officially took the Hippocratic Oath in 2026. Sambo also sent another message when Tribrata Putra graduated from the Police Academy in 2026, as a form of support from behind prison walls.
In addition, the family is known to exchange letters on birthdays and major celebrations such as Christmas.
- Writing a religiously themed book
During his sentence, Ferdy Sambo has also made use of his time by writing a book. He is known to have published a book entitled ‘Ibadah di Balik Jeruji’ (Worship Behind Bars), which contains spiritual reflections on his life as an inmate. The book discusses his personal experiences, reflections on faith and his outlook on life from inside prison.
In the book, Sambo writes messages encouraging readers to hold on to hope and strengthen their relationship with God even when facing difficult circumstances.
