Revealed: Ferdy Sambo's Prison Activities While Serving Life Sentence

The name Ferdy Sambo has once again drawn public attention after his son, Tribrata Putra, reportedly completed his education and graduated from the Police Academy (Akpol) in 2026. The graduation has prompted many to revisit the life of the former high-ranking National Police officer, who is now serving a life sentence. Tribrata, familiarly known as Brata, is following in his father’s career footsteps. Before becoming embroiled in the premeditated murder case of Brigadier Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat, or Brigadier J, Sambo held strategic positions within the police institution. Ferdy Sambo was the former Head of the Professional and Security Division (Kadiv Propam) of the National Police, a position responsible for overseeing the discipline, ethics, and conduct of all police members. He also held the rank of Inspector General. Despite now being behind bars, Ferdy Sambo’s life continues to attract attention. The public remains curious about the activities he undertakes while serving his life sentence. One notable activity is his active correspondence with his children. Together with his wife, Putri Candrawathi, Sambo has reportedly sent several letters containing prayers, support, and messages to their children during important moments. These letters gained public attention when their eldest daughter, Trisha Eungelica, completed her medical education and officially took the Hippocratic Oath in 2026. Sambo also sent a message of support from prison when Tribrata Putra graduated from the Police Academy in 2026. The family is also known to exchange letters on birthdays and during major holidays such as Christmas. In addition to writing letters, Sambo has utilised his time in prison to write a book. He published a book with a religious theme titled ‘Ibadah di Balik Jeruji’ (Worship Behind Bars), which contains spiritual reflections on his life as an inmate. The book discusses personal experiences, contemplation of faith, and ways of viewing life from behind bars. In the book, Sambo writes a message encouraging readers to maintain hope and strengthen their relationship with God even in difficult situations.
