PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto has revealed the content of the meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and PDIP Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri at the State Palace. According to Hasto, the meeting between the two was very relaxed, akin to a gathering of old friends.

“Ibu Megawati Soekarnoputri met with President Prabowo several days ago. Even the meeting was described by Ibu Mega as a gathering of ‘old friends’,” Hasto said during a press conference at Building B of the PDIP DPP Office in Menteng, Jakarta, on Saturday (21/3/2026), quoted from detikNews.

Hasto added that the fairly long duration of the meeting at the Palace was utilised by the two national figures for in-depth discussions. They did not merely reminisce but also addressed various strategic issues currently facing the nation and state.

“The meeting proceeded very amicably, discussing various matters of the nation and state,” Hasto explained.

For PDIP, the meeting represents a manifestation of the nation’s character that prioritises dialogue and consultation. Furthermore, Hasto also responded to questions regarding the possibility of Megawati’s visits to other former presidents during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H celebrations.

“The essence of Lebaran for Megawati is the universal spirit of brotherhood,” he stated.

Previously reported, President Prabowo received a visit from Megawati Soekarnoputri. Prabowo stated that the meeting continues the tradition of inter-leadership relations in the nation.

“On the 29th day of Ramadan ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, I received the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ibu Hj. Megawati Soekarnoputri, at Merdeka Palace. This meeting continues the tradition of inter-leadership relations in the nation,” Prabowo said in a statement on his Instagram account, on Thursday (19/3).
