A reconstruction of the alleged abuse case at Daycare Little Aresha in Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta, today brought grim findings to light. One revelation was the instruction from suspect Diyah Kusumastuti, also known as DK (51), the Chairperson of the Foundation overseeing the daycare, to tie up children.

Head of Criminal Investigation at Yogyakarta Police, Kompol Riski Adrian, stated that DK re-enacted scenes according to her role in the case. This included receiving children dropped off by their parents at the gate, bringing them inside, and handing them over to the caregivers in each room.

Adrian added that DK also played the role of issuing orders or instructions to bind the victims.

“From the results of the reconstruction, she (DK) did not physically bind the victims, but she did order it,” Adrian said, as reported by detikJogja on Tuesday (9/6/2026).

“One of the suspects also explained that it was conveyed by the chairperson of the foundation: ‘If they are running around or are difficult to handle when bathing them, just tie them up.’ One of the suspects conveyed that,” he continued.

The violent acts identified during the reconstruction were the binding and neglect of the victims.

“They were put to sleep in a fully bound state, lying on their backs. Even as adults, we would be unable to move in such a state, let alone children,” Adrian revealed.
