Returning to KPK Detention, Yaqut to Be Questioned by KPK Today
The KPK has returned former Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas (YCQ) to the KPK detention centre after he had temporarily been placed under house arrest. The KPK stated that Yaqut was returned to the KPK detention centre because he is to be examined by investigators today.
“It is already scheduled that there is a request for information from the individual,” said Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, as quoted on Wednesday (25/3/2026).
He has not yet explained the details of what the investigators will ask Yaqut today. Asep then said that his side would provide updates on the investigation into the 2023-2024 Hajj quota corruption case.
“We plan to have progress, yes, related to the handling of this Hajj quota,” Asep stated.
It is known that Yaqut has been detained again at the KPK detention centre since Tuesday (24/3). Yaqut was returned to detention after undergoing a health check following his temporary transfer to house arrest.
Yaqut’s detention was switched to house arrest since Thursday (19/3). KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said that house arrest for Yaqut was carried out after the KPK received a request from his family.
The KPK then approved the request, without providing further details on the reasons why Yaqut’s family submitted the application.
“So indeed because there was a request from the family side, then we processed it. It is not because of illness,” Budi explained on Sunday (22/3).
