Return Traffic to Jakarta Begins to Appear
JAKARTA - The return flow for Eid al-Fitr 2026 towards Jakarta has begun to appear. This is indicated by an increase in vehicle volume.
Spokesperson for the Public Relations Task Force of Operation Ketupat 2026, Police Commissioner Marupa Sagala, stated that this upward trend in vehicle flow serves as an early indication of the start of the return movement.
Meanwhile, based on traffic volume data on Sunday (22/3/2026) from 06:00 to 22:00 WIB, the number of vehicles entering Jakarta was recorded at 122,994.
He urged the public to take advantage of existing policies such as work from anywhere (WFA) and toll discounts to avoid congestion.
“We advise the public to plan their journeys well and utilise the available policies so that travel can be conducted in stages,” he continued.
The Indonesian National Police predict that the peak of the return flow will occur in two phases, namely on 24 March and 28-29 March 2026.
To anticipate the vehicle surge, traffic engineering will be applied situationally, ranging from contraflow to one-way systems, both locally and nationally.
