Entering H+2 of Eid 2026, vehicle volumes from East Java and Central Java heading towards Jakarta and other areas in West Java began experiencing a significant surge. One-way traffic engineering was implemented on Tuesday afternoon (23/3/2026).

The one-way system for the 2026 Eid return flow was applied on the route from KM 263 Brebes West to KM 70 Cikampek Main Gate, specifically for vehicles heading to Jakarta and other cities in West Java.

Monitoring from under the Brebes West toll interchange showed police directing some vehicles from the east to pass through the Brebes West toll interchange, crossing lane A, or the right side, to head to the Cikampek Main Gate (Cikatama).

When the one-way system began, vehicles experienced some delays before proceeding to lane A. Meanwhile, vehicles from the west or Jakarta and West Java passing through the toll were directed to exit at Pejagan Toll Gate, to leave via arterial roads/North Coast Road.

Toll road operators stated in their official remarks that this policy is only for vehicles moving towards the capital to smooth traffic flow during the peak return period.

The implementation of this traffic engineering is part of a strategy to manage vehicle flow expected to increase significantly in the coming days. Based on projections, the peak of this year’s Eid return flow is estimated to occur in two waves, namely on 23-24 March and 28-29 March 2026.

Meanwhile, the Head of the National Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, explained that they have prepared a follow-up scenario in the form of a national one-way implementation. This plan is scheduled for 24 March 2026, covering a longer stretch, from KM 414 to KM 70 of the Trans-Java Toll.

“The policy has been coordinated with relevant parties, including the Ministry of Transportation, toll operators, and insurance services. This step is expected to maximally alleviate vehicle density during the return flow period,” explained Agus Suryonegoro. (H-3)

The movement of the 2026 Eid return flow from Sumatra to Java via Bakauheni Port began showing a significant increasing trend.

PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) anticipates the vehicle surge during the 2026 Eid return flow by implementing toll fee discounts of up to 30%.

The Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, urged travellers to avoid the peak Eid return flow dates of 24, 28, and 29 March 2026.

Data shows that this year’s traveller movement has increased, with a total of 9.04 million passengers and a strengthening trend in multimodal transportation usage.

Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, said the trend of train travel continues to rise entering the 2026 Eid return flow. Approximately 500,000 tickets are still available.
