Return traffic sees Whoosh ticket sales reach 13,000 on Wednesday
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) recorded ticket sales for the Whoosh high-speed train reaching more than 13,000 trips during the Lebaran 2026 return traffic period, as of Wednesday afternoon.
“Today, passengers departing from the Padalarang or Tegalluar Summarecon directions are still quite high. As of this morning alone, tickets sold to various destinations have reached around 13,000,” said KCIC Corporate Communication Manager Emir Monti at the KCIC Station in East Jakarta on Wednesday.
Emir noted that entering the fifth day of Lebaran 2026, the return flow of Whoosh train passengers still shows a high trend. This means many residents are beginning to return to Jakarta and its surroundings.
The passenger surge is still dominated by those from Padalarang and Tegalluar Summarecon heading to Halim. Departures from both stations have been observed to be busy since the morning.
According to Emir, the high ticket sales figures indicate that the Lebaran return traffic is still active, even though the temporary peak occurred the previous day.
“From that total, around 14,000 passengers are users travelling from Padalarang and Tegalluar Summarecon to Halim Station,” Emir stated.
The high public interest, according to Emir, is evident from the sell-out of Whoosh trip tickets for the Padalarang-Halim route from afternoon until the last departure of the day.
This situation demonstrates the high dependence of the public on fast transportation modes to return to the capital after celebrating Lebaran in their hometowns.
Emir urged the public planning return trips using Whoosh to immediately book tickets online to avoid shortages, given the high demand, especially on popular routes to Jakarta.
Previously, PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) assured that security and surveillance systems at Whoosh Stations have been strengthened during this year’s Lebaran Idul Fitri homecoming period.
One of the efforts undertaken is deploying 1,773 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras across all station areas and rail tracks.
The deployment of CCTV is intended to ensure that all Whoosh train passengers are safe while in the stations or on the trains.
In addition, the CCTV is also used to monitor all operations at the stations and on the trains to run safely and conducive.
