Return Traffic on Cipali Toll Road Begins to Increase, Here is the Ministry of Transportation's Estimate of Its Peak
Return vehicle traffic from Cirebon towards Jakarta along the Cipali Toll Road experienced a significant increase on Monday morning (23/3/2026). Drivers are advised to rest if they feel tired or drowsy. Sustainability Management & Corporate Communications Dept Head of Astra Tol Cipali, Ardam Rafif Trisilo, stated that based on data from 00:00 to 09:00 WIB, around 13,000 vehicles passed through Cikopo towards Jakarta. “This number increased significantly by 161.5% compared to the same period yesterday,” said Ardam. In the opposite direction, or the outbound flow from Jakarta towards Cirebon, around 12,000 vehicles passed through Cikopo in the same time frame. That traffic volume was 36.3% lower compared to the same period yesterday. “Overall, the traffic volume on the Cipali Toll Road increased by about 4.2% compared to the same period yesterday,” he explained. Ardam advised vehicle drivers to rest at the nearest rest area if they feel tired or drowsy. On the Cipali Toll Road, rest areas are available at KM 86, KM 102, KM 130A, and KM 166 towards Cirebon, as well as at KM 164, KM 130B, KM 101, and the functional rest area at KM 77 towards Jakarta. If the rest area capacity is full, he continued, road users can utilise rest areas outside the nearest toll gate. With the closed transaction system, the toll fare remains the same even if road users exit and re-enter the toll road. “Ensure the vehicle condition and the driver’s physical state are in prime condition, and do not force yourself if drowsy,” he said. Peak return flow Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi urged Eid returnees to avoid the peak return flow of Eid al-Fitr 1447H/Lebaran 2026, which falls on 24, 28, and 29 March 2026. This was conveyed by Dudy during his inspection of traffic flow on H+1 Lebaran 2026 at the Jasamarga Tollroad Command Center (JMTC) on Sunday (22/3/2026).
