Return Traffic from Puncak Bogor During Long Weekend Holiday Begins to Increase
BOGOR, KOMPAS.com - The flow of vehicles from the Puncak, Bogor tourist area, towards Jakarta has begun to increase on the third day of the Ascension of Jesus Christ long weekend holiday, Saturday (16/5/2026).
Police recorded that the number of vehicles heading down or returning from their holidays towards Jakarta increased by 26 per cent on the third day of the long weekend.
The Head of Traffic at the Bogor Police, Iptu Afif Widhi Ananto, said that the increase in vehicles heading downwards indicates that tourists are starting to end their holidays earlier.
Based on data from the Bogor Police Traffic Unit, as of 12:00 WIB, 13,144 vehicles had travelled down towards Jakarta via the Puncak route. Meanwhile, the number of vehicles heading up towards the Puncak area was recorded as being fewer.
Therefore, Afif said that on Saturday afternoon, the police implemented a one-way traffic system towards Jakarta to accommodate the vehicles of tourists who were starting to leave the Puncak area.
Police predict that the peak of the long weekend return traffic will occur again until Sunday evening.
The traffic management will be implemented situationally, with the main focus on diverting vehicles of tourists heading back to Jakarta.
βFor tomorrow, we will implement traffic management situationally, depending on the volume of traffic. However, we will focus on vehicles that will be completing their long weekend holiday, namely the downward traffic,β said Afif.
Even though the downward traffic has begun to increase, the overall traffic conditions on the Puncak route are still relatively smooth, as there are still vehicles travelling in both directions.
