Jakarta (ANTARA) - The management of Kampung Rambutan Terminal in East Jakarta recorded 2,501 passengers arriving today during the return flow of Eid al-Fitr 2026.

“From the operational report on interprovincial intercity transport (AKAP), 107 buses arrived at the terminal carrying a total of 2,501 passengers,” said the Head of Kampung Rambutan Terminal, Revi Zulkarnain, at the terminal in East Jakarta on Tuesday.

Revi stated that the Eid al-Fitr 2026 return flow activities began to appear today. Based on terminal production data from 00:00 to 12:00 WIB, the number of arriving passengers was recorded as much higher than those departing.

“Meanwhile, the number of departures only reached 47 buses with a total of 344 passengers,” he said.

According to him, this comparison shows a significant increase in the arrival of mudik travellers returning to Jakarta after celebrating Eid in their hometowns.

The surge in arriving passengers also serves as an initial indicator of the start of the return flow, although it has not yet reached its peak.

Observations at the terminal area showed a relatively busy atmosphere with passengers alighting from buses carrying luggage.

Terminal staff were also seen on alert to regulate passenger and vehicle flow entering the terminal area. Supervision is being carried out to ensure smooth mobility and maintain security and order during the return flow period.

Although the number of departures remains relatively low, activities at the terminal continue normally. Several AKAP buses were seen transporting passengers heading back to their regions, though not as busy as the arrivals.

Revi estimated that the number of passengers will continue to increase in the coming days as the peak of the Eid return flow approaches.

Therefore, coordination with various related parties continues to anticipate the passenger surge.

“This report is interim data up to midday, and further developments will be monitored periodically by the terminal management,” he said.

The Eid al-Fitr 2026 return flow at Kampung Rambutan Terminal is predicted to occur in two peak waves, namely from early morning to morning on 25 March, and the second peak on 29 March 2026.

This difference in peak times is influenced by variations in public holiday periods. The first wave of return flow is dominated by workers starting to return to work on 25 March.

Meanwhile, the second wave comes from mudik travellers with longer holiday periods. To anticipate the passenger surge, the terminal ensures that service posts remain operational until 29 March.
