Retired major caught bootlegging

JAKARTA (JP): City Police have arrested a retired army major and
his partner for allegedly selling and distributing spirits at his
food stall on Jl. Raya Condet, East Jakarta.

Capt. Syaiful Bd., head of the Operational Affairs of the On-the-
Alert City Police squad, told reporters Saturday that the police
also seized a total of 176 bottles of various noted brands of
alcoholic beverages during the raid on Friday evening.

The retired army officer was identified as M. Simamora, 67, and
his partner as Asmen Simandjuntak, 39.

The crusade against the sale of spirits at unlicensed stalls will
continue, especially during the upcoming Christmas and New Year's
Eve celebrations, Syaiful said. (bsr)
