A retired lecturer in Yogyakarta, Yana Karyana, has reported an active lecturer from Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Makbul Hajad, to the Kulon Progo Police Resort over alleged violations of a partnership agreement in managing the free nutritious meals kitchen (MBG) project.

The report was registered under number STTLP/59/IV/2026/SPKT/POLRES KULONPROGO/D.I. YOGYAKARTA on 23 April 2026.

Yana took legal action after repeatedly failing to communicate effectively with the respondent to seek clarity on his investment in an MBG kitchen in Kulon Progo.

“Mr MH is a lecturer at UGM, but he is also the Chairman of the Mitra Karya Maporina Foundation, which manages the SPPG (Nutritional Fulfilment Service Unit) for the MBG kitchen in Kulon Progo that I built the facilities and infrastructure for,” said Yana in Yogyakarta on Monday, 4 May 2026.

Yana described the losses he has suffered from the SPPG management partnership in Kulon Progo, which is currently active in serving 1,700 meals per day to school students.

He admitted to having staked his entire savings from decades of work as an academic to build the facility independently.

“My total investment is nearly Rp 2 billion for one kitchen in Kulon Progo, covering rent, renovations, and equipment procurement,” Yana stated.

However, after the facility was built and operational, Yana felt sidelined from the management without any clear reason.

The issue became more complicated with unilateral policy changes regarding profit-sharing and incentives received by the reporter from the foundation.

Yana mentioned that the incentive funds of Rp 6 million he recently received were cut by 25 per cent unilaterally. According to him, this cut was not in line with the initial agreement when the partnership began.

“We suspect practices that harm us as partners, from the incentive fund cuts that deviate from the initial agreement to the non-realisation of the promised profits,” he said. “Even though we provided all the facilities and infrastructure for the kitchen.”

Meanwhile, the Head of the Public Relations Sub-Section of the Kulon Progo Police Resort, Iptu Sardjoko, stated that the case report has been received. Sardjoko said that all documents and evidence submitted by the reporter are in the investigation stage.

“We have received the report. Currently, the team is still examining the documents, and this case is still in the investigation stage,” he said.

When contacted for confirmation, Makbul Hajad, the respondent, expressed surprise at the legal action taken by Yana. MH claimed that communication between him and the reporter is still running normally to this day.

“I don’t yet understand what the problem is, because I am still communicating with Mr Yana. Apologies, I have work at the moment,” Makbul said.
