Retired General Try Sutrisno, Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, passed away at the age of 90 years and three months at Gatot Soebroto Army Central Hospital (RSPAD), Central Jakarta, on Monday, 2 March.

He drew his final breath in the Intensive Care Unit Room 207, Level 2, at 06:58 WIB, following a deterioration in his health condition.

At approximately 05:33 WIB, the family received information from CICU nursing staff that Try Sutrisno’s health had declined. The medical team subsequently provided treatment in accordance with established procedures.

Despite medical intervention, Try Sutrisno was pronounced dead at 06:58 WIB.

The body was to be washed at the RSPAD funeral home and transported to a funeral home at Jalan Purwakarta Number 6, Menteng, Central Jakarta, for viewing. Arrangements for the funeral prayer and burial procession remain pending the family’s decision.

State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi issued a statement regarding the passing of Indonesia’s sixth Vice President.

Throughout his life, Try Sutrisno was recognised as one of the notable military figures who subsequently held strategic positions within the New Order administration. He was known as an inspirational figure for young people in pursuing their aspirations, despite his humble background.

Try Sutrisno had garnered social media attention in 2024 following the circulation of a video featuring President Joko Widodo.
