Retaliating Against Wedding Attack, IRGC Targets US Commander's Residence in Kuwait

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that its ground forces launched missile and drone attacks against United States (US) military bases in Kuwait in the early hours of Wednesday (2/9/2026). The attacks targeted the headquarters and the residence of the US commander at Ali Al Salem Air Base.

In an official statement, the IRGC Public Relations Office stated that the action was retaliation for a US military strike on a residential house in Sirik. The US attack killed four people, including a child, and injured nearly 70 others in what the IRGC described as a “grave crime and violation of human rights.”

The US military strike hit a wedding party, turning an atmosphere of joy into mourning after the residential building was destroyed by bombs, according to Al Mayadeen.

The IRGC explained that the missile and drone operations against the base in Kuwait were launched simultaneously with attacks targeting US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Erbil. The group claimed that the strike on Ali Al Salem Air Base resulted in the deaths of several US military personnel.

Furthermore, the IRGC stated that its forces successfully set fire to drone hangars and launch platforms used by US drones in various attacks, as well as destroying several drone units at the location.
