The Minister for Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu’ti has stated that results from the Academic Ability Test (TKA) will be used in the achievement pathway of the 2026 New Student Admission System (SPMB).

“The TKA results will later become one aspect of assessment in the 2026 SPMB achievement pathway,” he said as quoted by detikcom on Wednesday (11 March).

“We hope for full support from local government and all education stakeholders in Bireun Regency so that the TKA implementation runs smoothly and is carried out in a spirit of honesty and joy,” he added.

He explained that the TKA for primary and secondary levels will measure literacy through Indonesian language testing. The TKA at these levels will also test students with mathematics to measure numeracy levels.

Based on a Circular from the Director General of Early Childhood Education, Basic and Secondary Education Number 0301/C/HK.04.01/2026 regarding the New Student Admission System for the 2026/2027 academic year, the 2026 SPMB pathways consist of domicile, affirmative action, achievement, and transfer routes.

The 2026 achievement pathway SPMB is divided into academic achievement and non-academic achievement pathways. The following are the differences in their provisions:

Academic Achievement Pathway: Students may use Academic Ability Test (TKA) results for selection in new student admission at secondary and senior secondary levels.

Non-Academic Achievement Pathway: This may consist of management experience as head of an intra-school student organisation and scouting organisation formed and recognised by the educational institution.

Intra-school student organisations under the non-academic achievement pathway are not limited to the Student Organisation (OSIS) but also include various forms of student organisations within (intra) educational institutions, whether general educational units or religious educational units, such as Student Organisation (OSIS), Intra-Madrasah Student Organisation (OSIM), Class Representative Assembly (MPK), Student Executive Board, and other official intra organisations formed and recognised by educational institutions.
