Restudy train system!
Restudy train system!
From Warta Kota
Several train accidents have occurred recently, leaving
several people dead. This means PT Kereta Api, the company that
runs the railways in this country, needs to take the necessary
measures to straighten out things pertaining to the railways.
As a small example, there are at the moment existing
mechanical and electrical systems which are believed to have been
responsible for these train accidents, or more precisely the
problems have arisen from the different systems used to connect
signals. "Mechanical or electrical failure" has frequently been
cited as the cause of train accidents. To my observation, these
failures could have been caused by the current systems used in
the daily operation of trains. How many systems are there now,
and should the company have more than one system?
Indonesia, in this case PT Kereta Api, has received loans from
several foreign countries. For example, if the loan comes from
Australia, then the railway system purchased with the loan must
be Australian. And if it comes from France, then the French
system must be used. This doesn't seem technically sound for a
railway operation. In addition, there is too much imported
equipment currently being used, but this equipment does not seem
to be technically sound for railway operation in this country.
For instance, the equipment used is not strong to withstand
lightning strikes, which occurs here more frequently than in
other countries.
I am of the hope that PT Kereta Api will be willing to
straighten up its act so that accidents can be minimized.
