Restoring Civil Registration Services After Earthquake, Dukcapil Director General Deploys Team to Ngada

Director General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Teguh Setyabudi, visited Flores Island, East Nusa Tenggara Province, on Monday (24/8/2026). The four-day working visit until Thursday (27/8/2026) was carried out on the direct orders of Home Affairs Minister M. Tito Karnavian to restore civil registration services that were paralysed by a magnitude 7.7 earthquake.

Upon arriving in Ngada Regency, Teguh immediately held a coordination meeting with Regent Raymundus Bena and Director of Population Administration Information Management Muhammad Nuh Al Azhar, who had arrived earlier at the disaster site. Teguh stated that the main focus of the Ministry of Home Affairs joint team’s arrival was to ensure that the civil rights of earthquake-affected residents are not neglected amid the emergency situation.

“This earthquake not only damaged homes but also destroyed important documents such as electronic KTPs, family cards, and birth certificates belonging to residents. We have brought complete equipment for rapid recording and printing so that residents can immediately process their documents again free of charge,” Teguh said in a press release in Jakarta on Wednesday (26/8/2026).
