The Serang District Prosecutor’s Office has applied restorative justice (RJ) in an assault case. After reaching a settlement with the victim, the suspect, Juheri, has been ordered to clean a mosque for a month and attend barista training.

Serang District Prosecutor Dado Achmad Ekroni said the incident took place on 4 February 2026 in Anyer, Serang Regency. Juheri was involved in a fight that left the victim injured. The case was handled by Cilegon Police before being transferred to the Serang District Prosecutor’s Office.

Dado said his office had carried out the restorative justice process in accordance with procedure. As a result, Juheri’s case will not proceed to court.

“Both parties have since reached an agreement and forgiven one another. We took that into consideration in deciding to apply restorative justice and not take the case to court,” Dado said on Tuesday (13 October 2026).

Juheri must, however, undergo rehabilitation by cleaning a mosque for one month. He must also attend barista training.

“For example, he will receive barista training at the Labour Training Centre for five days, and then clean a mosque in Ciwandan for a month,” Dado said.

Juheri’s community service at the mosque will be monitored by prosecutor’s office staff. He will also receive guidance from the mosque’s administrators.

“We will ask for reports, perhaps weekly. Mr Juheri will need to attend. If necessary, we may ask for photographs of his attendance so that we can monitor him,” said Ria Ramadhayanti, head of the General Crimes section at the Serang District Prosecutor’s Office.
