Restaurants told to close

BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: The Indonesian Council of Ulemas
local office has called on restaurant proprietors and food
vendors to stop business during the fasting month of Ramadhan.

"Don't just close your shops during the daytime, but for the
whole month so that Moslems here can observe their fasting
better," Musa Sueb, head of the office, said, Antara reported.

Starting on Jan. 22, Indonesian Moslems will start fasting
between sunrise and sundown for one month.

"Last year, there were many restaurants which stayed open, and
they disturbed the devotion of Moslems," Musa said. (swe)
