Restaurants Contribute the Largest Share to Tangerang City's Regional Revenue, Reaching Rp 425 Billion

The restaurant tax sector has become the largest contributor to original regional revenue (PAD) from the tourism sector in Tangerang City, Banten, in 2025, reaching Rp 425 billion. The Head of the Culture and Tourism Office (Disbudpar) of Tangerang City, Boyke Urip Hermawan, stated that the PAD from the tourism sector in 2025 totals Rp 528 billion. “From the 2024 PAD of Rp 470 billion, the largest contributor to revenue came from restaurants, and the same applies in 2025. This increase is in line with the growing number of tourist visits to Tangerang City,” said Boyke, as reported by Antara on Friday (17/4/2026). Boyke also provided details on the number of tourist visits to the area. In 2025, the total number of visitors reached 13.9 million people. Of this figure, there were 1.5 million domestic tourists, 311,000 foreign tourists, and 12.1 million people visiting various tourist spots. According to Boyke, this increase is partly due to the diverse programmes and events organised by the Tangerang City Government. “The Tangerang City Government will continue to optimise the management of destinations and strengthen more targeted and sustainable tourism promotion. Because this PAD is also used for city development,” he explained. The tourism infrastructure in the area is deemed adequate, with more than 103 hotels/apartments, as well as more than 1,885 restaurants/cafes/culinary businesses. Despite the success, Sachrudin acknowledged several challenges. Tangerang City has limitations in terms of natural tourism, and the budget and destination management also need further optimisation. Moreover, the quality of tourism organisation must be continuously improved each year. “We must address these challenges with innovation. From developing man-made destinations, improving the quality of events, to collaborating with creative industry players,” said Sachrudin. Future tourism promotion is planned to be further strengthened through digital means. Cooperation with various parties will continue to be expanded by the government to enhance the area’s attractiveness on the global stage.
