Restaurants closed down
JAKARTA (JP): The city public order office temporarily closed
down two restaurants for violating the Ramadhan fasting month
operation hours.
The head of the entertainment department of the office, Toha
Reno, said on Tuesday that the restaurants are Atrium Food Center
in Senen, Central Jakarta and Indiana Bar and Restaurant in
Kemang, South Jakarta.
"Indiana Bar and Restaurant was closed down on Monday because
it opened the bar in the afternoon while the food center was
closed down, because it presented live music at noon," Toha said.
Toha said that the restaurants are closed for at least three
days and will be able to resume operation only after they
apologize and pledge not to violate the regulation again.
The city administration has imposed a curfew on entertainment
centers in Jakarta during the fasting month of Ramadhan which
prohibits them from opening during the day.
Toha said that the office will tighten controls imposed on
massage parlors because they also are usually open during the
day.(yns)
