Restaurant kitchen fire in Menteng sparked by embers from grill
The Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat) has stated that a fire which occurred in a restaurant kitchen in the Menteng area was caused by residual embers from a meat grill. The incident took place at the Steak & Bakery building, located in Gang Indramayu, RT 02/RW 05, Menteng District, on Monday evening. According to information from the scene, while an employee was cleaning meat on the grill, residual embers were sucked into the kitchen blower, causing the fire to grow. The agency received the emergency report via the 112 service at 17:55 WIB. Two fire engines were dispatched one minute later and arrived at the location at 18:00 WIB, with firefighting operations commencing immediately. The response was subsequently reinforced to a total of six units and 30 personnel. The fire was successfully contained by 18:35 WIB, and a cooling-down process began at 18:50 WIB to ensure no remaining hotspots could reignite. The fire destroyed an area of approximately 100 square metres within the kitchen. No fatalities or injuries were reported, and an assessment of the financial losses is still being compiled.
