JAKARTA — The Ministry of Transportation estimates that approximately 24.08 million people will undertake the return journey during this year’s Lebaran season using motorcycles. The high volume of two-wheeled travellers is expected to create increasingly congested conditions along travel routes, particularly on Java’s northern coast (Pantura).

Beyond traffic congestion, motorcycle riders face additional challenges including unpredictable weather and the burden of luggage throughout their long journeys. These conditions carry the potential to increase driver fatigue.

For this reason, travellers are advised to stop and rest every two to three hours of travel. This measure is important for restoring stamina, maintaining concentration whilst driving and reducing the risk of microsleep that can trigger accidents.

Several rest points have been prepared for travellers along the Pantura route. One such facility is the Lesehan Enduro station at Masjid Jami Al Huda mosque, in Pangarengan village, Pangenan district, Cirebon Regency, West Java. This station provides a rest area for motorcyclists who wish to stop briefly before continuing their journey.

Facilities available at two primary locations in Cirebon and Pekalongan include rest areas, light healthcare services, reflexology massage, haircuts and food for breaking fast and pre-dawn meals. Additionally, light vehicle inspection services are available for travellers.

Sigit Pranowo, Chief Executive Director of PT Pertamina Lubricants, stated that the facilities were prepared to assist motorcycle travellers undertaking long journeys amid heavy traffic.

He explained that besides rest facilities, oil change services are available to maintain vehicle performance during long journeys. Vehicle engines operating under heavier strain during congestion or prolonged travel require adequate lubrication to keep temperature stable and protect engine components from excessive friction.

One traveller, Ariyanto, stopped at the station whilst travelling to his hometown in Surabaya. He stated that the available facilities were quite helpful for travellers needing a brief rest.

“The place is comfortable. I had a health check including blood pressure and blood sugar, and I was even offered a haircut and reflexology massage,” he said.

The Lesehan Enduro station programme runs until 19 March 2026. In addition to Cirebon and Pekalongan, services focusing on oil changes are available at several other points along Java’s return routes, including Cikampek, Nagreg, Ciamis, Ajibarang, Ngawi, Nganjuk and Banyuwangi.

The presence of these rest stops is hoped to enable motorcycle travellers to recover briefly during their journey, allowing their travel to their hometowns to continue in improved physical condition and safely.
