Rest Area KM 57 Inundated with Homeward-Bound Travellers, Many Breaking Fast in Parking Area
Hundreds of vehicles carrying homeward-bound travellers began filling the Rest Area at KM 57 on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road in Karawang, West Java, on Saturday evening (14 March 2026).
Based on observations at the location around 18:30 WIB, homeward-bound travellers’ vehicles continued arriving from Jakarta heading towards various destinations. Most of the travellers stopping at the rest area appeared to be travelling with their families.
Although many dining facilities were available in the rest area, some travellers chose to break their Ramadan fast in the parking area. Several could be seen spreading mats to sit on, whilst others sat near their vehicles whilst enjoying their breaking-fast meal.
After breaking their fast, the travellers then headed to the At-Taubah Mosque at Rest Area KM 57 to perform the Isya prayer.
Meanwhile, other travellers were seen strolling around the rest area whilst waiting for the right time to continue their journey.
One traveller from Kranggan, Bekasi, named Heria (53), said he was travelling to his hometown in Indramayu.
“There are five of us in one car – my family. I have three children and one grandchild,” said Heria in the parking area of the rest area whilst enjoying Padang rice as his breaking-fast meal with his family.
He said he and his family departed from Kranggan at around 16:00 WIB and arrived at Rest Area KM 57 at around 18:30 WIB.
“On the toll road there wasn’t much congestion, but from Kranggan entering the toll road, it completely stopped. But praise be to God, we’ve made it here,” he said.
After breaking their fast and performing the Isya prayer, Heria planned to continue his journey to Indramayu.
“After Isya shortly, we’ll continue to Indramayu,” he said.
