Response to Constitutional Court Ruling: DPR to Form Omnibus Law on Labour
Jakarta – The Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Legislation Body, Bob Hasan, stated that his side will form an omnibus law for the labour cluster to respond to the Constitutional Court’s ruling on the need for comprehensive improvements to labour regulations in Indonesia.
According to him, the Labour Omnibus Law will cover regulations on occupational safety, contracts, the determination of whether the outsourcing system is viable, including the dynamics after the enactment of the Domestic Workers Protection Law, as part of the labour scope.
“The preparation going forward will no longer be constrained by previous methods. So we will form one like an omnibus. An omnibus for labour,” said Bob at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Thursday, 30 April 2026.
He stated that labour dynamics must have one parameter because the context of labour affairs is very broad. Therefore, he said, the law regulating it must be considered in the form of an omnibus law.
“If in Baleg it’s not an issue, the issue is discussed in the commission or in the special committee or in Baleg itself, yes. It’s not an issue,” he said.
He explained that labour is not only about job opportunities or human resources for work, but also about the mechanisms of relations between employers and workers, up to government regulations.
For now, he has not conveyed the target for starting the discussion of the said law because it still needs to wait for directions from the Deliberation Body or the DPR RI leadership.
“From the Bamus leadership who instructs which commission to go to. That’s the important note,” he said.
