PDIP Central Executive Board (DPP) Chairman Andreas Hugo Pareira has responded to a statement by PSI DPP Chairman Bestari Barus, who claimed PDIP was deeply heartbroken after being left by Jokowi. Hugo firmly stated that Jokowi was expelled from the party. “Jokowi was expelled!” Hugo told reporters on Monday (15/6/2026), when asked whether it was true that PDIP was heartbroken over Jokowi’s departure. Hugo said that internally, PDIP has already forgotten about Jokowi. However, the circulation of a fake diploma allegation against Jokowi has reminded PDIP of Indonesia’s 7th President once again. “In the PDI Perjuangan, we have already forgotten. Because of the fake diploma, this person has emerged again. The diploma algorithm has reminded us of this name,” he continued. According to Hugo, the only thing remembered about Jokowi is the fake diploma issue. “What is actually remembered is the fake diploma because it is widely discussed in the media and until now there has been no resolution,” Hugo stated. Previously, Bestari Barus had said that PDIP ranks were deeply heartbroken after no longer being with Jokowi. He expressed hope that PDIP could reorganise itself to be more mature in politics. “But indeed, as I have said on several occasions, the pain of being left by Mr Jokowi is a very deep pain, and it is nurtured, piling up in their hearts. They need re-maturation education in the curriculum, if the party has a curriculum, so they can better organise themselves and be more mature in politics,” Bestari said when contacted on Sunday (14/6/2026). Furthermore, Bestari did not question whether Jokowi was expelled or not. He said many people are happy that Jokowi is no longer in PDIP. “As for the issue of Mr Jokowi being expelled, Gibran being expelled, or Bobby being expelled, it is just a mechanism. But I am a thousand percent convinced that the Indonesian people are very happy to see Mr Jokowi leave or be expelled by PDIP,” he explained. “Because they see Mr Jokowi being mistreated, called arrogant, used as a selfie object, sitting in a fancy chair in front of a crowd. Arrogant, and all sorts of things. Is that what is called being given honour?” he added.
